The Avoided Word

The topic that I’m going to be talking about today is a very touchy one. It’s one that very few people wish to talk about. In fact, not many churches in America are willing to bring up this word for fear that it will drive away too many people.
The word is death.
Most people in the world don’t like death. They don’t want to even think about it. Why?
Because they have no hope. They have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to them when they die. In fact, they are afraid of death.
As a true follower of Jesus, we have no reason to be afraid of death. John 11:25-26a- Jesus said...”I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Psalm 91:14-16- “Because he loves Me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.”
Death is only the beginning of eternity.
As a true follower of Jesus Christ we will spend eternity worshipping Jesus in Heaven. For those who haven’t surrendered their lives to Christ, they will spend eternity in Hell separated from God forever.
We as true believers in Christ need to get out there and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those around us. “Friends don’t let friends go to Hell.”1
