Will We Go?

Recently, in one of my courses for school; I needed to read through the book of Isaiah. There’s a scene in Isaiah 6 that caught my eye...

King Uzziah just died, and now the Lord showed Himself to Isaiah...
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I (Isaiah) said, “Here I am. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah was willing to be sent. He was willing to go. Isaiah knew what it meant if he went for the Lord. It meant that he would have to give up everything that he held dear, and maybe even his very life.

Are we willing to forsake all else for the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Are we willing to give up the comforts of this world to go where the Lord leads us?

“He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Matthew 28:19

And now the final question is...

Will we go?

Fearfulness of Witnessing

My throat is dry; I try to swallow
My brow is wet with perspiration; I wipe it away
I open my mouth to speak; but no words come out
I close my eyes and open them, trying to blink the fears away
What was that verse? I can’t remember
I’m trembling from head to toe
I want to say “Jesus loved you enough to die for you”, but “how was your day” comes out instead
I want to tell them about Heaven and Hell; instead we talk about the weather and the latest news
“I’ll tell him next time, Lord.” I say as I’m driving home
There won’t be a next time
I get a phone call from his parents later that night
They tell me he died in a car wreck
The told me about the head on collision with the semi
And how he died on impact
“Oh God!! Why didn’t I tell him?”
Now he’s gone, and there’s no turning back
I let him go, and now he’s burning in Hell for eternity

We as true followers of Jesus Christ shouldn’t be afraid to share the Gospel with our friends, family, or even someone we don’t know.

Why?

Well, one...He told us not to fear those who can only kill the body. Matthew 10:28- “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the On who can destroy both soul and body in Hell.”

And two...God tells us to GO. Matthew 28:19-20- “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Mark 16:15- “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’”
How about it? Who will join with me to save our lost and dying generation?

Time To Fight

When you go to school, work, or even the store; what do you see?
I see a spiritually sick and dying generation. They go about their lives thinking everything is alright when in reality it isn’t. They either think they are good enough to get into heaven, or they have no hope. They cut themselves just to dull the inner pain. They get drunk so they can forget their past. They starve themselves so they can look like the “perfect” people on MTV, and in teen magazines. They sleep with their girlfriends and boyfriends because they think that’s how you show love. They kill themselves for lack of love, lack of self-esteem, lack of everything.
This is our generation.
For too long I’ve sat back and watched my generation destroy itself. For too long I’ve kept quiet about who God is and what He has done for the world.
Well, not anymore!

I’m going to let my light shine before this generation, our generation. Nothing is going to keep me quiet any longer.
I’m standing on the front lines! I’m ready for the war. Will you stand with me?
I will not be conformed to this world. I will not be what the world wants me to be. To the world I am dead, but I have been made alive in Jesus Christ.
I will not keep silent! We live in a world where two people die every second.
What I have to say will heal the hurting, calm the frightened, convict the self-righteous, and proud, give hope to the hopeless, and give security to the insecure.
Will you join me in the fight to save the souls of our generation?

Fear Of Witnessing

I’m taking an evangelism course called Evangelism Explosion (EE), and this last Sunday was the first On-The-Job-Training (OJT). Basically, we go out and witness to people on the streets with our team, which usually consists of 3 or 4 people.

Well, I became extremely nervous when I got into the car to go on OJT with my team. Yet, I was excited to go out and witness to people.

So on our way to the hospital, I prayed to the Lord and asked Him to take away my fear of witnessing to someone I don’t know. Immediately, I felt a sense of relief, and my fear was gone.

Later on that night, when I got back from witnessing with my team; Scripture verses kept popping into my head.

Matthew 6:34- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make you paths straight.

Hebrews 13:6- ...the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

We don’t need to be afraid of what someone might think, say, or do to you when you go out and share the Gospel with them. If it’s the Lord’s will that they be saved; He’ll soften their hearts, and they’ll hear and receive the Word of the Lord.

Truly Needing God

I’ve heard many people over the years who have said that they don’t need God. That they can survive on their own. I know I’ve done this plenty of times, but you know something? We can’t survive on our own. If it weren’t for God keeping His hand on this little planet we call home, Earth would practically destroy itself.

Think about it. A few thousand years ago, God took His hand off of Earth for 40 days and 40 nights and what happened? A catastrophic Flood wiped out all but 8 people and a few animals that God saved.

We can do nothing without the Lord. If it weren’t for the Lord we mortal humans wouldn’t even remember to breathe.

Without the Lord; there would be no hope. If there was no God, then when we die that’s it. There would be no life after death. There would be no Heaven or Hell. We would just die and turn to dust. Everything we did on Earth would have no meaning.

But praise the Lord, there’s hope! Jesus Christ is our hope. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and purchased a place in Heaven for us. Unfortunately, though, not many people know of this hope that we have.

Why?

Because we who have it aren’t sharing it with others! That to me is a very sad situation. We have the best gift that anyone ever needs, and we just hide it. We all know someone who doesn’t have this free gift; whether it is a friend, family member, or just an acquaintance. How very sad it will be when your friends or family stand before God and they don’t have their name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

The truth of the whole matter is we can’t survive without the Lord, and neither can your friends or family.

So what are we going to do about it?

Not Ashamed Of The Gospel

(not ashamed)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”
-Romans 1:16

I recently read this verse in my quiet time with the Lord, and I had to ask myself, “am I ashamed of the Gospel? Am I willing to get out there and proclaim Jesus among my non Christian friends?” The Holy Spirit within me said “yes”, but my flesh said “no way!”
It’s a spiritual battle. As a true follower of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit within us says, “I can do everything though Him (Christ) who give me strength.” (Philippians 4:13) Yet our flesh tells us, “What if they laugh at you? What if they don’t listen? You can’t go tell them; you’re not smart enough.”
The Holy Spirit and our flesh are constantly at war with each other.
Let me ask you a question...
Are you ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? In other words, are you afraid to go tell you’re friends at school or work about the Lord Jesus Christ?
Let me tell you something...we don’t need to fear when we are on Jesus’ side.
There are Christians all over the world today who die just because they preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You know, all these people have one thing in common. They feared God more than the feared man. “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
-Matthew 10:28

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Why am I unashamed of the Gospel? Because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
I have a Bible study at my church every Wednesday. Well, my leader was sharing with us some things on witnessing. One of the things she said was this, “We don’t need to be afraid when we go out and witness because if it is the Lord’s will that they hear the Gospel, then they will.” *(not exact wording)*
It is only by the power and grace of God that any of us are saved. So with this in mind, we don’t need to ashamed of the Gospel.
